Great Barrier Reef: ‘Worlds Biggest Orgasm’
FNQ Main AreaCairns Trinity Beach Palm Cove Port Douglas Tropical Islands
The world's biggest orgasm has just taken place on the Great Barrier Reef! Coral spawning is a spectacular event which involves the corals releasing an explosion of eggs and sperm in to the water for fertilisation. It is rarely seen but some lucky Cairns tourists witnessed it on the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns this week.
This is one of the most awesome reasons to visit the Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef if you’re a diver. It usually happens between Oct-Dec (inshore reefs usually start spawning 1-6 nights after the first full moon in October and outer reefs spawn later in Nov/Dec)
