Rainforestation Kuranda, A Short Daytrip From Cairns

Kuranda is an easy half-day trip from Cairns if you’re renting a car. Our advice is to get there early in the morning before the Skyrail & train arrives and have a coffee in the High Street before visiting one of the attractions.

I recently went to the Rainforestation Nature Park just outside Kuranda with my 3 year old daughter and despite the fact that it seems a bit touristy I actually enjoyed myself! Set on 100 acres of rainforest, we played didgeridgoos, threw boomerangs around the paddock, looked at some native wildlife (koalas, kangaroos, crocs) and had a ride through the rainforest in a WW2 Army Duck. Good varied entertainment for the kids.
