HiMany thanks for your mail; we had a great time in Cairns, (we had a fab time all over Australia) The children definitely rate their time in Cairns as one of the trips highlights. The apartments were very nice clean and well equipped, the standard of furnishings and finishes was very good. Having the two apartments side by side was great and made up for them being a wee bit on the small side but as we spent very little time in them that was not really an issue! The trips we fantastic we went scuba diving and Alexander went in the helicopter for his birthday, the cake was great lovely large chocolate gateaux, It was a wee bit choppy on the way home so the photographs of the cake cutting were a little shaky! Perhaps on complain about the Reef trip was that the boat was rather crowded, but the staff were friendly and made our day.Day to Cape Tribulation was also great, out guide Chris was funny and informative, it was a long day and perhaps doing the two trips one after the other was a bit much for the kids, but we did want to make the most of our time there. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and we will be back maybe not for a few years, but we will be back, it is beautiful part of the world and we only got to see a very small part, so much more to see and explore. Many thanks for your help and assistance with our trip.Kind regardsLesley Hill
Hello Troy Thank you for your email. We all had a great time in Cairns, it all just went too quickly. Oasis Inn - basic room however very clean and comfortable (glad you advised us to stay less time here and more nights at the Lakes Resort). Lakes Resort - lovely, facilities great (the pools however were freezing cold so spent very little time in the pools, it was a shame they weren't heated a little to take the chill off them!), we spent our time on the tennis court instead. I felt the staff behind the reception at Lakes did not know enough about the local area, re: public transport, whereabouts of local shops etc. however in all the Lakes was a great place to stay at. We went on the Big Cat to Green Island - very enjoyable.Karunda rail/cable car - enoyable.Billy Tea, Cape Trib, Daintree - great day out. As with your services (FNQ Tourist) - 10 out of 10, we had no problems with any of our bookings and everything flowed smoothly. I wouldn't hesitate to use your services again and would recommend your services to family and friends. So thank you very much. Regards Lyndal Timms
Hi Troy, We had a great time in Cairns and the accommodation was perfect. It was nice and close to Barlow Park and also close to the RSL where we had some terrific meals. We didn't do a lot of "tourist" things as we were up there to watch our daughter play in the School State Soccer Titles. We spent quite a few hours one afternoon down at the esplanade and the pier and that was about it. As I said, the accommodation was great and the price was also. The service you provided to me was impeccable. It is so hard to book accommodation when you don't know the area so I really appreciated your help. I have already told some of my work colleagues about the service FNQ offers and I will continue to do so. Thanks again Maree McLachlan
Hello,Our stay in Port Douglas was great. The accommodation at BreakFree "The Portsea" was excellent. Clean, comfortable and within easy walking distance to Macrossan St. A point to take note of there would be if booking for someone unable to climb stairs as there is not a lift facility. This was not an issue for us though as the exercise was good. Breakfast was included in our deal and was all we needed to start the day.As we had organised a hire car from Melbourne airport we were able to head straight to Port Douglas on arrival. We found lots to do including a day at Diantree Village and Cape Tribulation. A day trip to Mossman Gorge and the Sugar Mill was also interesting. As was a trip to Mareeba where The Coffee House was a good stop and the Chinese Temple at Atherton. We have been to FNQ once before and stayed at Yorkeys Knob but thoroughly enjoyed Port Douglas with the many cafes etc. The Sunday market was interesting also. The beach was lovely and the water warm!!!The accommodation at the Cairns Holiday Lodge was as you suggested "cheap and cheerful" but very handy when we had a flight out at 7.00am. We were given the front room which at 5.30am was easy to get out of without making too much noise. All in all we had a great time and will be back particularly to the lovely warm weather. It is very wet and very cold here today and we would like to back in FNQ right now.The booking service through " FNQ Apartments" was excellent. Thanks and looking forward to our next trip.- Margaret -
Hi, Thankyou - we were very satisfied with our accomodation and its position to the Beach, shops, walks, etc. And we found the Management very helpful, courteous, and unobtrusive. We were happy with the Unit and its facilities. We had a beautiful day out doing the Train - Skyrail trip - absolute magic. And we enjoyed the sights, shops, eating places in Cairns but otherwise we rested, relaxed, walked and went to the Beach. The weather treated us well - we had some glorious days and yes, we will go back if the opportunity comes again.Sincerely, Margaret.
Hi Megan , We had a fabulous time in Palm Cove in such lovely accommodation ,Thank you. Is it too early to book for next year around the same time ? Please let me know as I dont want to miss out !Also just wanted to pass on that this apartment does provide pool towels so guests do not have to bring their own as you had suggested . Regards Sally
Troy,Our holiday was very enjoyable. Our time in Cairns and Daintree was great and the car and hotel arrangements worked out very well for us. We were particularly impressed with the Amphora apartment you arranged. It was just beautiful and after spending 3 days in Ayers Rock in a tent, the luxury and convenience was most welcome. As you know, we did the Kuranda skyrail, train, wildlife, and butterfly tour. It was a pleasant day although I personally could have done without the slow train ride at the end. Also, Palm Cove seems to have been the last stop for our bus on our return trip and the drive took quite a long time. In retrospect, we would have been better served if they had sent a smaller bus to the outer locations or id we had used a car to get to the skyrail and then home at the end. We did just that when we snorkeled at Michaelmas Cay. We took the car rather than riding the tour bus. The snorkeling was great and the whole reef experience was well handled by the tour company you proposed. We spent the last few days in Daintree hiking and doing mostly self-arranged tours in the car. We were very happy to work with you on this. Your efforts and availability made our experience great. It was a low stress operation. We would recommend you to others.Best regards,Marty
Hi TroyHad a brilliant time in Port Douglas.. what a place!. Much nicer than I had anticipated.Johnny in Central Plaza Apts was very friendly , down to earth & very helpful. The complex itself was ideal for us.. luxurious apt with a nice pool which our 8 yr old loved. We went under our own steam to any outings we went on including a trip to the reef with Wavelenth which was fantastic. Ideal for us, small nu.mbers & snorklers only. Thanks very much for your help & sound advice Troy.Great value for such a great holiday.Cheers.Maurice
Hi Troy,We loved every minute of our holiday in Cairns. The Lakes Resort was everything you promised. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The lanai was a great indoor/outdoor space. The surrounds were beautiful. The pools were great. There were not too many people around and we were often the only ones in the water! The staff were all friendly and helpful. We went to Agincourt Reef with Quicksilver, a fantastic day. ( we were there the same day as poor Steve Irwin died). We also went to Kuranda, up on the train and back on the skyrail. It was another fantastic experience. We hired a car and drove to Hartley's Crocodile adventures. We all love crocs so this was a terrific experience to see so many of these creatures in the one spot. Our son spotted a tree snake in the wild at Hartley's so this was another highlight! While we had the car we drove out to the Boulders at Babinda on the recommendation of a staff member at the lakes. Unfortunately when we got there the tracks were closed due to cyclone damage. So we didn't get to see them. Drove back to Babinda and heard about Josephine Falls. We drove out there and spent a couple of hours at the Falls. The kids loved the natural rock waterslide. It was well worth the drive even though we missed out on the Boulders. So all in all we had a wonderful holiday and we thank you for everything you did to help make it one we will always remember.
Thank you for your follow up email. In reply:A fabulous area in which to holiday! Well, particularly when the weather is so perfect as in our case. One can sightsee or stay in such comfortable areas in Palm Cove, and totally rest. We were fortunate to have friends in the area and so spent much time with these folk. We had already spent a week at the Beach Club which we absolutely loved, and felt that we would not be at all happy to then spend the next week at the Amphora which you had booked for us. However, this proved to be unfounded as the apartment you scured for us was large, very clean and had the most wonderful view and proximity to the beach. We felt enormously relieved.Perhaps a thought may be spared to mention that the Amphora could perhaps have offered to help with our bags on arrival. They were totally helpful as we left and next time I will not hesitate to ask for this. I realise that with age and stairs this can be a real problem. Many thanks for you help. I hope this satisfies your queries.Melinda
Troy, Thanks for reminding me. Yes we had an absolutely lovely time. We'll be back.. and probably in the same appartment as we really couldn't fault it. We didn't really do very much, just relaxed. Walked up and down the strip. Had a massage each at the Sebel (OK) and a great dinner also at the Sebel on the Saturday night. And that's about it. Worth pointing out that pretty much as soon as we got there we were planning the next trip, but will probably take our 2.5 year old next time and get out and explore a bit more up the coast. So in all very happy with the accomodation and your arrangements. Again thanks so much for all your help. Look forward to next time. Regards,Michael
hi, Troy just to sum up. our holidays were fabulous, thanks to the weather . the appartment was like I imagined: really nice.during this week we snorkelled at green island, took rests at port douglas, palm cove. lazy.went bushwalking, to milla milla falls and other waterfalls.visited cairns.enjoyed beers...!! and after we went back to brisbane with a motorhome untill today. thanks for your help.I alreaady have recommended you to a friend. bye Noemi
Hi Troy Thanks for your email. Our holiday was really good, although you could have turned on a little more sunshine, and a few less showers. However, the weather did improve after the 1st day.The apartment was excellent - just right for 2 couples and we were placed in the apartment where we had asked to be (downstairs by the BBQ & pool). I thought that the lady running them was very good, helpful, and kept people to the rules regarding noise etc. She was also very helpful in ordering us taxis, prior to us getting a rental car. The unit was very clean, and we would most certainly book again to stay there if we returned to Carins, as they are so handy to everything. RegardsNoleen
Hi TroyWe had a terrific time , got back home yesterday and it was a shame to leave the warm weather behind (rather cold here, only about 17C).The accommodation was awesome, we were very impressed, it was by far the best place & value for money we had over the 3.5 weeks on our travels, the staff were lovely, location was perfect, facilities, cleanliness etc was top notch. We went on the Osprey V tour on the 24th, however the boat was rather full the day we went and rather uncomfortable, I believe they had close to 100 people and it made moving around the boat a real pain, please pass on this feedback, we have been on over a dozen outer reef tours in the last 3 years and this was among the worst given the numbers allowed. The food was great and so was the crew as well as the destination but the boat they have is not equipped to cater for these numbers. We also went to Green Island with Great Adventures & did the Skyrail / Kuranda day which were both great days and good providers. As far as FNQ Tourist Information & yourself, the service was above and beyond anything we could have expected, the advice, speed of service, pricing etc was exceptional so thank you very much, we will definitely utilize your services again on our next trip to CairnsI hope this is what you were after, if not just let me knowMany thanks for everythingRegardsPaul
Everything was fine, thank you. Melaleuca Resort v. comfortable with most helpful and cheerful managers. We had a great trip to Cape Trib with Wait-a-while, with a fantastic guide. Finally got to Green Island but wouldn't recommend having lunch on the boat: it was timed in such a way that we had to cut short our snorkelling to be back on board to catch it. Peggy.
Hi Troy,My family and I had a great time at Port Douglas. We enjoyed the accommodation facilities and took part in several activities. We visited Mosman Gorge, snorkelled at the Agincourt reef, spend time at the 4 mile beach and went fishing. The young couple (care takers of the property) at the Nautilus accommodation were very friendly, and helpful. We were pleased with the friendly and good service rendered by FNQ Tourist Information. Booking details were accurate and did not have any issues or problems. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your services.Regards,Raja
Hi Troy,Thanks for your email. I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday in Pt Douglas, I was extremely happy with the accomodation, I thought it was very clean, modern and fresh looking for the price paid. I found the reception staff there extremely helpful and friendly. As for activities, I mainly relaxed by doing massages and treatments. Also I participated in white water rafting on the Russell River and hot air ballooning. Also I went to the breakfast with the birds. Overall I was very impressed with the holiday and would definately consider going to Pt Douglas for another holiday.Thank you for your intrest.King regards,Renee
Hi Troy,Had a wonderful holiday in your beautiful part of the world. The apartment was very nice & the service from you was excellent (and appreciated). We hired a car while we were there & did a lot of driving - Daintree, Cape Trib. Port Douglas and northern & southern loops onto the tablelands, Skyrail & the Tjapukai experience. All thoroughly enjoyable. We didn't do any boat trips because we have done them on previous jaunts to FNQ. We have also previously been to Broome & Darwin so didn't do any of the zoo/crocodile type tours. Tjapukai experience was very theatrical & enjoyable but suspect that it is geared more for (and would appeal more to) international tourists than home-grown ones. Good fun anyway although slightly expensive - food was brilliant.Had a ball Troy & sincere thanks for all your efforts in securing the lovely apartment for us. The manager on site (Rob/Bob I think) was also very nice and extremely helpful - he even squirted the fruit bat sh%# off our hire car!Cheers (name withheld)
Hello, Thank you for your e-mail and sorry I haven't answered it sooner - have been really busy. Firstly I would like to say how disappointed we were not to meet you. My daughter said she knew you were based in Cairns, but for some reason I thought you were in Port Douglas!! As you may remember we stayed at the Villa San Michele. We would like to say how very happy we were with the Service we received from everyone especially Toni Graham the Manager. The first night we were in an upstairs room and when Toni learnt that Graeme had had a knee replacement and was having a slight problem with the stairs she offered us an apartment on the 2nd floor, straight off the street. The family helped us in the morning and we moved into that apartment without any trouble and were extremely satisfied there. I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartments and the staff to anyone. (The one complaint when I got into one of the pools I lost my breath, it was sooooooo cold!!!!!!!!!) We did our Tour Bookings through Toni and had no problems with those - only the weather! Tried to pick a fine day without any wind to go out to the Reef and eventually went to the Low Isles Inner Reef the second to last day and not only was it windy, it also rained and was quite cold - not anyone's fault. The family had been to the Outer Reef the day before and had slightly better weather and a nice time. We also went up to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree one day which was excellent and another on the Skyrail and Kuranda train, stopping off at the Outback Opal Mine shop for morning tea, which was shocking. We had a talk by a non-Australian whom we couldn't understand, then were told we didn't have time to watch the video and had to hurry with our cup of tea to get on our way. The Skyrail was really great and the train (which Graeme and I had been on in 1983 was disappointing) crowded and we couldn't hear the commentary. One morning we went to The Rainforest Habitat and had Breakfast with the Birds - it was splendid. We also went out to the Mossman Sugarmill for a visit / Tour only to discover as we hadn't pre booked we were unable to go, which was disappointing, but our fault. The day we were to fly out from Cairns to Brisbane our plane developed a malfunction as we were taxi-ing out on the runway and we returned to Cairns where we had to spend the night. The communication by Virgin Blue was a little lax whereby we really didn't know what was happening until the last minute when we were sent off to the Lake Hotel for the night (9.30pm until 3.30am). However Virgin Blue were short staffed and those on the counters and at the airport did their best under the circumstances. Unfortunately our 15 year old grandson lost a near new navy hooded sweat shirt between the airport, taxi and the hotel which nobody managed to pickup or hand in. We enjoyed our time at Port Douglas but found most things ofcourse channeled to the tourists and it had certainly changed since we were last there in 1983!!!. Prices we felt were quite high as a result of it being a tourist spot. Had some lovely meals out but a lot of the eating places were just too expensive for families. However having said that we had some lovely BBQ's at both the San Michele and the Beachfront Terraces. Had some lovely swims in the sea which were much warmer than the pools. So all in all our holiday in FNQ was successful and much of it due to your contribution with our accommodation. Thank you once again Sincerely Robin and Graeme
Hello Troy Sorry about the delay in responding to your request - quite an accumulation of family tasks requiring immediate attention awaited me on my return. Our holiday in FNQ was just beautiful: excellent accommodation at "Getaway on Grafton"; unbelievably beautiful scenery; friendly people and perfect weather combined to make our Cairns holiday one of the best we've experienced. In fact, my husband requested a return visit next year, so that's high praise indeed. As to what we did .... where to begin!!! We hired a car, and in 1200kms of driving, explored Cairns and immediate surrounds then headed off to Mission Beach (beautiful) Port Douglas (very lovely) Mossman Gorge and the Daintree (even saw sugar-cane trains), Atherton and the tablelands (fantastic natural beauty, exquisite waterfall circuit etc) - magnificent!!!Then we caught the Scenic train for a day trip to Kuranda, explored the delights there and returned by Skyrail. Quite a highlight in itself. We took a tour with Big Cat over to Green Island and spent a fabulous day there just before we came home. I might add that we lived on a diet based around exquisite seafood and fruit for the entire 10 days!! Sounds a bit bland when put so baldly but I can assure you it was anything but!! Truly one of the loveliest trips we've ever done, and a very big "Thank You" to you for your assistance and advice. As I said, God willing, we'll definitely be requesting a "return visit". Cairns must be one of Australia's Best Kept Secrets: beautiful scenery, fantastic shopping; great cafe scene; fabulous eateries - just the most amazing place, and VERY reasonably priced. Cheers Robyn
