Ever Thought about Hang Gliding
Here at FNQ Apartments, we are always keen to stress that the attractions of this beautiful part of the country are not simply restricted to the beaches.
There are simply hundreds, if not thousands, of things to do when you are on holiday here other than just to laze by the pool or spend all day digging your toes into the sand.
For example, about 40 kilometres north of Cairns and 25 kilometres south of Port Douglas, you’ll come across the stunningly beautiful Rex Point Lookout on the Captain Cook highway. These are some beautiful cliffs overlooking the beach and coast and whenever you get that combination you can be sure that people will immediately see an opportunity to do some hang gliding!
If you’ve never done that before, it can be a real thrill. Basically, with apologies to experts if we are missing some subtleties, this involves launching yourself off of a high point and gliding on a large triangular kite over and above the hills, beaches and sea.
Don’t worry if you are a total beginner. It’s possible to fly dual and simply get a taste
of just what the sport entails.
You’ll be in the safe hands of a master hang gliding practitioner with hundreds or thousands of hours of experience. They’ll make sure you come to no harm.
Contact us for more details because things do change over time. At the time of writing, a 30 minute introductory dual instruction flight costs around $175-$200 and there is a weight limit of 90 kilos.
Keep in mind that these flights have to be booked and that occasionally some disruption and cancellations may arise due to prevailing weather conditions.
This is an easy day out from your Cairns accommodation and one that if you are a little adventurous, you certainly won’t forget in a hurry.
Why not give it a try?
