Title : Ice Cream in Cairns is close to Cairns Accommodation
We went for a Friday night wander into Cairns city. The atmosphere along the Esplanade was just fantastic. The lights, the boats, the Cairns Accommodation visitors, the palm trees: with such a holiday feel to the place, is it any wonder that visitors say they love Cairns.
Even though it is our winter (26 degrees C), we were peckish for ice cream (I tell you, it is the holiday atmosphere that does it to me, every single time). I marvelled at the number of quality ice creameries along the Esplanade. Honestly, you can get every flavour and type you could possibly think of. I guess ice cream is pretty important commodity in a tropical Mecca!
Toward the southern end (the start) of the Cairns Esplanade, Baskin Robbins was full with customers and the ecstatic looks on faces as they licked their serves almost convinced me to buy. But, being a more tropical girl, I opted for a tropical fruit flavoured ice cream and decided to hang out until we walked to Vanilla Gelateria and Cafe, Marina Point (between the Pier Shopping Centre and the Salt House in down town Cairns).
If you haven't yet been to Vanilla Gelateria and Cafe you have just got to get those legs walking and stroll on down to sit and lick by the Marina while you watch the boats and people pass by.
Open from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week, the Gelato is made on site and they offer almost 40 different flavours - from the traditional to the tantalisingly tropical. Have two scoops of different flavors - one big fat blob atop another. DIVINE! The taste, the flavour, was astounding and I will never go back to eating other ice cream.
I know I made a good decision. Go on, do YOURSELF a flavour too! Our recommendation: Two thumbs up to Vanilla Gelateria and Cafe in Cairns.
