First of all I was most impressed with the assistance we recieved from staff in identifying the appartments we had in Port Douglas and Palm Cove. Both apartments met our needs, Amphora was particularly nice with the Ocean view. We got the impression from staff that nothing was any trouble and would go out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. I would have no hestitation is using you again and recommending your firm to our friends.
Thanks again for your professional service.
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Port Douglas. The Mantra Aqueous was just great, very quiet and the ladies who came around making beds etc couldn’t have been sweeter or more efficient. We were there for our daughters’ wedding at the beautiful St Mary’s church and later at the Sugar Wharf. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Cairns. Most of our guests stayed in Mantras or one of your other apartments and were very happy with the accommodation. Everyone enjoyed all the many activities in and around Pt D and wanted to stay longer. For a wedding destination it is second to none! The wedding was a very good excuse to go to PT D because most of the guest came from W A and had never been over before. My only complain was that I couldn’t find enough time to swim in the pool because we were so busy catching up with all the wedding guests. I am sure a great many of the guests will be back! We are back home tired but happy and we are planning our next trip. I will stop raving on now!
All the best.
The holiday was great. My partner Patrick and I just loved North Queensland. The Aqueous on Port was a lovely modern apartment building with a beautiful lagoon pool. And the caretaker, Lisa was a very friendly host. If I had to make one criticism to make, it would be that the room was only cleaned after I complained, even though it was supposed to be cleaned every 3 days. Anyway, onto the holiday - We hired a car for 2 days and drove to Palm Cove and Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands. Palm Cove is like paradise and I would love to stay there in the future but, with one exception, that I had a car. I would feel very isolated without transport. I also enjoyed Cairns immensely but, again, with transport.
We didn't really do our homework on the Atherton Tablelands as we had decided to take a short (or so we thought) detour on our way to Cairns. We therefore only walked through the town, being ignorant to what else it had to offer. We booked 3 tours, namely: The Reef Tour (Habba) The staff of Habba were very friendly. The only criticism I have is that they don't take the time to familiarise novice snorkellers with the equipment etc. I found it very daunting being in the middle of the ocean and not knowing how to breathe through the mask and get used to the flippers and wet suit. Consequently I felt very sick being in the water and had to spend the next half hour in the toilet throwing up and was 'out for the count' for the rest of the day. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience and I will be better prepared next time. Sky Rail/Train to Kuranda. We were a little disappointed in this tour. It was raining on the day and the operators had stopped the sky rail until the weather improved. Even though we paid for the sky rail we were driven up to Kuranda by coach. We were reimbursed but only minutely compared to what we paid. I hasten to add, that even though Kuranda is a lovely village, the 5 hours free time we were given to spend there before getting the train back (which incidentally was beautiful), was too long. Daintree Tour This was another tour we were disappointed with. We paid for and booked the tour which was described as "travel in a spacious luxury 4 wheel drive (12/14 seater)" but were informed the night prior that as there weren't enough tourists, we would be travelling in a small 4 wheel drive which we found very uncomfortable in the rear seats. Again, it was raining so the trip down the Daintree river was spent standing in the middle of a tin boat (you couldn't sit on the side due to the rain) which was filling up with rain water.
Having said all that, our tour guide was lovely and very informative. All things considered, we had a lovely time and will definitely go back to North Queensland. I would like to be a bit more pampered in a hotel on my next trip as opposed to a 'self contained' apartment. Also, we would definitely hire a car from the airport for the length of our stay. I found we could have done a lot of the tours ourselves which would have saved us a considerable amount of money. The Daintree and Kuranda were definitely overpriced for what was entailed. Troy, it sounds as though I was disappointed in the trip which I definitely wasn't. We would just approach it in a different way the next time. Also, we went at the wrong time, in the wet season where it rained 5 from 8 days. Nevertheless, we had a lovely time and were very upset on our last day. The 7 nights were definitely not long enough and the next time I will book for at least 10/14 nights.
Thank you so much for everything. You did a great job and I look forward to booking a holiday with you again in the future.
