Our holiday to Port Douglas was amazing. FNQ Apartments were so great right from my initial enquiry. They were in constant contact with me via email with information about tour/attraction specials etc. Our accomodation was within walking distance to the beach and across the street from shops and restaurants. We did hire a car but even if you did not want to do that you can walk almost everywhere. We booked an apartment with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms which was very comfortable for 5 adults. Management was great, and attended to any request immediately. Would definitely stay there again! thanks FNQ.
Hi Brenda and team!
We are back home in cold, wet Victoria. We had an absolute wonderful time on our holiday in port Douglas. The Driftwood Mantaray Apartments was an excellent decision and i could not fault the apartment or the facilities at all. We couldn't have chosen a better location. It was a minute walk to the beach and a minute and half walk to all the shops and restaurants. I Highly recommend this apartment for anyone who is holidaying in port Douglas. A nice, comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay. Our first adventure was to green island, which i had you book for us. We loved it!! We had snorkeled the reef on another tour previously last year but, green island reef tours is a full day of fun, and my kids couldn't believe everything that they saw underwater. We went to Mossman Gorge, Paronella Park, Hartleys Crocodile Park, Cape Tribulation and dined in cairns. I am very grateful for all that you have helped with, and also the effort that you showed with re-booking our accommodation because of my concerns. I Cant thank you enough, My kids said they had the best holiday they have ever had, and loved the entire holiday from start to finish. So, Thank you. We would absolutely stay at driftwood again and will be booking our next cairns/port Douglas holiday with you!!
Thank you for your message. We did enjoy our holiday immensely. It was great fun. To your questions: a) I’m sure our holiday was a typical Port Douglas holiday: we snorkled, took a sunset sail, ate at many restaurants, shopped at the many shops in town, swam at the beach and at the apartment’s pool, went to Cape Trib (nothing there really), the Daintree, Mossman Gorge, Mareeba (nothing there), Kuranda (pretty sad), Crocodile adventures, Palm Cove, Flames of the Forest and even down to Cairns for a movie as there is no cinema in PD. b) Your standards and service was great. The apartment people knew we were coming and we paid them. The apartment was well located and served our needs very well. The two guys working in the office were always friendly and helpful with local information – and they did not charge me for the two crockery items I broke. We would definitely stay there again if we went back. While the apartment presented well there were a few niggly things that could be attended to: we couldn’t lock the veranda door, the shower screen in the ensuite bathroom kept coming off the runner, the fry pan with the bowed base is useless on a flat cook top surface and the frypan with the flat base has a really scratched and beat up top surface. You may use my comments but please do not use my name on your website. And I don’t Facebook, sorry. Thank you also for the voucher and other information.
Just to let you know we had a great time at the Grosvenor Appartments in October, Brian & Anne were the perfect hosts always full of help when we were looking to book activities out and about, accommodation was very comfortable and homely, just what we wanted. I had a day out on the reef with Reef Experience which was excellent.
All of our guests (100 people) absolutely loved Port Douglas & commented what a great time they had. Many of them did trips to the reef & to the Daintree & just had a great break away. The accommodation your organised for both us & our immediate family was fantastic. Driftwood was clean, spacious & well located & would certainly stay there again. Your company's service & in particular the service of Sara was exceptional. Most things went exactly to plan, however it's when things don't go to plan you see how people respond & react. Sara's response to the issues surrounding my grandparents was fantastic & really highlighted how valuable it is to have a reputable company like FNQ on your side. Sara, within 30mins of taking on this issue, had organised a new place for my grandparents & I can't tell you how important this was given we were trying to organise our wedding for the next day. I would certainly recommend FNQ to anyone wanting to travel up North & will certainly use your services again. Thanks again Brenda & Sara for a fantastic holiday.

Yes we had a wonderful holiday. A lovely place Port Douglas and it was a pretty quiet town which was good. The accommodation was recommended to us by friends in Alice Springs. The accommodation we had was a very good standard, clean and had everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable; a very good quality. I really appreciate a good night’s sleep and I certainly had no trouble sleeping any night we stayed there. I also appreciated that there were multiple pillows available of different softness levels. My husband has a bad back and has to sleep with 3 or 4 pillows. We were lucky in our 3 bedroom unit, we had 2 TV’s so the kids could watch one and we had the other. We were lucky to have such beautiful weather while we were there, and there was not a fly, or a mossie anywhere! The activities we did were as follows: Drove to Mossman Gorge – the road in is narrow and people were parking on either side, so we had to wait or back up as there were bottle necks and cars pushing to get out as we’re trying to get in. There was a bit of road rage happening. It was on the Easter long weekend, so maybe not a good time to go there. Mossman gorge itself was great and we all enjoyed a lovely swim. We drove to Mareeba and went to the War Museum (Beck’s Museum) there which my husband and son thoroughly enjoyed, and we also went to the Coffee Factory / Chocolate House in Mareeba. It’s great!! Great shopping as well. Didn’t do any crocodile tours, as we are from the territory and have done them before. We drove up to the Daintree village, and we also crossed the Daintree River on the ferry and went to the heritage centre – canopy tower. It was very good, not as much there that I would have thought. and a bit expensive. The whole thing took an hour and that was really taking our time. The audio was extra and with 5 in our family it was another $25 on top of entry fee. The Audio was really worthwhile though. We went to the wildlife place near Port Douglas and had breakfast with the birds. Now that was very good, and I recommend that. We spent a few hours there and the kids really got a lot out of it, and learnt a lot. We also went to Kuranda, up by train and down by sky rail. It was expensive but worth it. I found we should have allowed longer time up there because we spent an hour in the butterfly house, and then we only had 2 hours for lunch and a look around. Kids also swam at 4 mile beach inside the stinger net and they had a ball, spending hours there. The surf café there is very, very good. Delicious food and has a kids playground. We also went to the On the Inlet restaurant and had a lovely feed of seafood and got to see them feed the groper. That was worth it. We also bought prawns directly from a fisherman in the marina and paid $12 / kilo for them, already cooked and they were beautiful. We also bought fresh fish and scallops and cooked them at the unit, from the seafood shop next door to the Mango Jam place. We also went to the markets on Sunday, and kids had fun there. So in 9 days we did a lot and had some down time too. I recommend staying at the driftwood as it is central to shops and beach, and on a quiet end of town.
Thanks so much Kathy.
Hey there Troy,
We had a fanastic holiday at Lychee Tree Apartments in Port Douglas and we are certainly planning to go back in the not too distant future. Lee and Paul were wonderful hosts. The apartments were clean and very comfortable (home away from home). The highlights of our 7 night stay were:- • the trip to the Low Isles on Sail Away, and, • the trip to Cape Tribulation, taking in all the tourist attractions along the way. We had the best meal at "Gone Bananas".
